Thank god the old editor is at last on his way out, because he was a real piece of work. Let me quote from one of our emails: " As a non-expert on all of the topics discussed in the journal, I depend entirely on referees". That tells you everything you need to know. Hopefully this journal is finally transitioning to better hands...

Desk reject after 8 months!

The journal underwent editorial change during the time my paper was under review, but 11 months was an awfully long time to wait for what were (at least to me) clearly AI generated referee reports (one recommended R&R, the other rejection, editor went with reject).

Honestly, this has been the worst experience ever. Nothing has gone right.

6 months ago I submitted an article to this journal. It sat there ostensibly “under review” according to their submission system. I inquired a month ago about its status. Just heard back today: “After careful consideration by the editorial team, I am sorry to tell you that we will not be sending your manuscript out for external peer review.” This was allegedly due to a “technical issue” with their system.

It took over two years until the final verdict. The editors do not respond to emails or enquiries.
